Kansas Son Flowers Bloom In Heaven

HI!!! Hope you are all well! This weeks challenge at SOUS is to use buttons...so buttons I used!
For this layout I chose a picture of my dad and uncle as wee lads....1932...wow~My dad is the wee one on the right....just a boy of 2yrs. I chose the title to represent these boys as sons of my dear grandmother...of course all of them are blooming in heaven now.
I used K&Co Tim Coffey stack. The marquee is from Sentimentals and is double layered with a solid card stock. The 'button holes' were created with markers and then I added the buttons that are stitched with embroidery floss. I laced the ribbon around the buttons to 'attach' the marquee that I cut apart.

Kansas is cut from 50 States, Son Flowers is from Lyrical Letters, welded in DS. The tractor and windmill are both from Heritage.
I created the sunflowers by layering 3 of the flower cuts from Graphically speaking @ 1/2 inch increments. I used the sun cut from the same cart cut at 1 inch and 3/4 of an inch and then added buttons to the centers. I used my fingers to curl the petals a bit. The leaves are from Heritage and the wheat stalks from My World. The fence is cut from Paper Doll Dress Up.
1932 is cut from Pooh Font, I love love love the 'wood' look. In the center of these flowers I added some beads held in place with paper glaze.
Hop on over and check out the DT creations.....you will enjoy what you see!

You're Going Places Baby....what a fab award!!!

Well what can I say....except thanx Barb.....I have received so many lovely awards and must apologize to the sweet blogger buddies who have passed awards that I have not had time to share....hope I can make amends when school is out on the 21st.....yay!!!!
I swore I would not allow that to happen again so here is a wonderful award passed to me by our sweet craftygirly.....hope you will pay her a visit...she is so very talented and just the bestest bloggy bud!!!

For this award I must talk about where I see myself 10 years from now and pass along to 10 other bloggers....so here goes....a little quote I like....I know it's a bit ironic for a scrappy little me...but I love the truth of it....so while I scrap my memories I try not to get bogged down in the past and focus on the future...so this is a wonderful award....
"I know why God put our faces on the front and not the back....because he wants us to look where we are going and not focus on where we have been."....touched by an angel....
Ten years from now.....I would love to have all unresolved issues with my son's in the past....I see myself being a fantastic gramma....very possible as my oldest son is 20 and youngest 14.....spending time with all of them and building more wonderful memories.....I hope to find myself settled.... emotionally, spiritually, financially and physically. I would love to be remarried to a true soul mate looking forward to many new and fun experiences together. I love to travel and hope to be able to do even more....I am sure I will still be a scrappy little blogger binding the friendships I have now and creating new ones.....
with that said I am passing this to SOUS....I love my sistas I'm not counting them in my 10....love to make up my own rules....LOL
I am passing to some faithful followers and some new followers....I want to pass it to all of you...but the fun thing is...we are such a small blogging world....I know you will all get it in time....as far as I'm concerned...we are all going places baby~~

You make me smile!

Happy Friday!!! Yay....another Friday and another reveal for SOUS. This week we have another beautiful Liz Qualman sketch to inspire everyone, and all of us have some very fun diverse layouts to share with you.
I chose these pics of Mcauley and I...my own little Mother's Day memento....You make me smile....and he does. I changed the photos to b/w and added the blue to my denim jacket. I had this fab 29th Street Market paper that I paired with some K&Co prints from the Tim Coffey stack.
Instead of my usual cricut flourishes I decided to use some pearl sprays and accent the layout with adhesive pearls to tie it together. The alphas are from Memory Makers. I purchased an inexpensive book called "Letters To My Mother"....I tore some of the pages out to add to my layout. I've used distress ink in tea dye on all the edges.
I'm still using up that lace doily...LOL....a little trim and another flower....boy I've really gotten lots of goodies out of one doily....and more to use! I've also added some metal brads tot he flower center. The paper flowers are layers of the K&Co paper along with some solid card stock. I've cut the flowers from the snowflake/flower cut on my Home accents cart....2 ea in 2 and 2 1/2 inches. I then pulled the petals from behind each layer to the front of the patterned paper.
I've been wanting to add a banner to a layout and this worked beautifully. I used Stand and Salute to make the banner....added some lace and pearls and then cut the title font from Storybook. There is a small MS doily punch border accented with pearls along the bottom of the pic. The marqee is also from Storybook.
Hop on over to the SOUS blog to see all the other fab creations and check out the winners of the Guest Designer spots.....Thanx for stopping by today!

Legacy of Love

Hi all!!! Better late than never applies to this post in so many ways...sorry I was behind on getting this layout ready for the SOUS reveal today...but life happens. Speaking of life happening this is a photo of my maternal great grandparents. I have so little information on them it makes me sad, but I sure love this photo!
To the best of my knowledge this my great grandparent's wedding photo. I used some editing to create the individual pics from the original portrait. I am really inspired to get started documenting my family tree....few relatives left to help put the pieces together but through ancestry.com I was able to contact a third cousin who has already offered so much help to get me started....if you're reading this Mike a big cyber hug and many thanx!!
I used my fave K&Co papers for this layout (sketch by pagemaps). I also added some sheet music, lace, pearl necklace, bling, prima and handmade flowers. The title is cut from Heritage.
My frames, birds and marquee are from Sentimentals. The other cricut cuts are the Home Decor flourish.
I had purchased some old sheet music from a flea market and ran across these pages of The Wedding of Punch and Judy.....lol....I thought some of the words from the song worked really well for the theme of this page. My roses are the Tim Holtz that everyone is making right now. I also added some of the lace flowers I've been making from an old doily.
The light frame in this photo has been accented with paper glaze to help it stand out a bit from the background paper.
Some buttons for flower centers and accents...the letters for the initials are cut from Storybook.
I added a little poem that I thought of as I made this layout...Computer generated with Isabella font.
another doily flower....
a close up of some of the sheet music, lace and pearls....
The poem reads....
A little bird once told me of your legacy of love,
how two hearts were joined, with blessings from above.
But I only know small pieces of this tale you see,
I wish that you could bend from Heaven and tell the rest to me.
I know that my great grandmother passed away when my grandmother was very very young....I wish I knew the rest of the story....maybe I'll find out!
Thanx for stopping by today...don't forget to check out the rest of the DT's creations for this fab sketch....come along and play with us if you have time!!!!

My double page layout features pics of my great nephew and nieces....they all spent the night a few weeks ago and I have so many fun pics to scrap. Little Madalyn Mae was just born in Feb and her 2 big sisters, Lily and Adrianna along with cousins Donny and Carsyn welcomed her to the world with lots of love!!!!!!

How fantastic are these Websters Pages from the Lullaby Lane collection???? The are so soft and sweet...Just love them!

I fussy cut the image at the bottom right corners to tuck my pics into. I added lots of Prima flowers mixed with some silks and the lace is from a doily I picked up at a flea market...I cut it apart and made the strips and also made some flowers with some of the pieces. My flowers are accented with buttons, bling, pearls and stickles. I used my cricut to cut the flourish from Home Decor and the leaves from A Child's Year. My butterflies are from Setimentals. The image among my flower is from the paper collection. The scallop circle was cut from Stamping and I used the center cut feature to get my image in the middle of the circle. I've also added layers of book pages and doilies behind my photos.

The paper doilies are inexpensive white ones that I've sprayed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in pink bubblegum. The are so pretty, wish you could see the glimmer on them. I also took apart a 1 tree candle holder to create my metal photo corners. The font stickers are from Basic Grey Nook and Pantry collection.
Visit Floren @ Generations Crafting for so many wonderful scrappy goodies....you can find these Websters Pages, Prima, Tattered Angels, Basic Grey and so many other wonderful products at her store. Don't forget to mention my blog for a free Prima bling this month with your order!!!

Fairy Sweet.....Reflections....Blog Hop...Glitz Challenge!!!!!

Hi everyone! Hope you are having a great Friday! Thanx so much for stopping by today....We have a fun blog hop going on for SOUS.....you will have so much fun visiting all the fun blogs and seeing all the creative stuff our DT has in store for you....and a bit of candy as well!
For this weeks challenge we had a sketch by Beggahuna and some fantastic Glitz papers to create with~ We all used the same sketch and the Maya collection for our layouts this week...I love to see what different ideas each of us have when using the same products...so much fun. My submission is a double layout of my grand niece and nephew.....Fairy Sweet Reflections of my little sweeties, Donny and Carsyn.
For Carsyn's page I used the hot pink as my accent color choosing to use the dark blue for the background on both pages. The fun green paper was a perfect complement to the pinks and blues~ I used my photo impact to make the pics b/w and add the pink to make her little tutu and flower pop.
The large circle is from Lyrical letters, the photo mats from A Child's Year and accented with pearl paint.
I fussy cut the flowers from one of the patterned papers from the collection, spritzed with glimmer mist and then added some silks in the soft green and hot pink. I used 2 MS punches for the centers and the leaves. The font is from Lyrical Letters.
The wings and butterflies are from Sentimentals and are accented with adhesive pearls as are my flower centers.
For Donny's layout I used some of the bold green and striped papers along with the patterned green and blue paper. My train, tracks, tree and fence are all from My Community.
My sun is from Graphically Speaking the clouds from Zoobaloo. The dragon is cut from Paper Doll Dress Up and and it's wings from Indie Art. The train and dragon represent the toys Donny is playing with in the sweet photos.
I chalked the fence with lots of yellow to fade the pink to more of an orange....matches his shirt so well!
Once again my circle and font from Lyrical Letters.
Hope you enjoyed what I've created this week. I will have a bit of surprise candy available to a random winner so please leave a comment to be eligible for that!!!
Now hop on over to Nanne's Blog....I know you will love what you will see there!!!!
If you have not been there yet don't forget to stop off @ SOUS for your chance to win these wonderful papers!!!!!!

Warning.....When I am an old woman I shall wear purple!

Happy Happy Happy Friday.....only 5 more Monday's left before Summer vacay....yay!!!! This weeks SOUS sketch is by our beloved Aymee Gandy....what a fun time I had with this one!!!! I used DCWV Le Creme stack and some fun findings I picked up at a flea market! I also featured a fave poem by Jenny Joseph....Warning....When I am an old woman I shall wear purple! Purple being one of my fave colors and the theme of the poem dear to my heart!!! With my 49th bday just a few weeks away I figure I should get in as much practice as possible!!! HEEHEEHEE!!! The pic is of silly little me.....a little photo shoot by my dear son Mcauley! He took the photos and chose the one for the layout.
The lace, flowers and butterfly are all from the flea market finds....the leaves are from heritage...can't really tell in the photo but I added some chalking to give some depth to the leaves.
How fun are these boots from Heritage and this wonderful dress form from Forever Young....how ironic is that....LOL.....once again the red lace and rosettes from my find....
The silhouette is from heritage the lace pieces and jewel flea market goodies....I added some ribbon and fiber to the brooch clasp to cover it and love the look of it!
The glove is from Sentimentals with fiber and a pearl accent....The date is MS alphas...the hat from Forever Young, photo corner Heritage and photo mat A Child's Year....
My title font is Blackletter and the poem is downloaded from the net.....Hope you all enjoyed my fun little layout....stop by and see my sisters @ SOUS....and join in on the fun if you have time.....don't forget to check out my side bar for a link to Generations Crafting....you can get a free Bling with a purchase....what fun.....just mention my blog or SOUS!!!! Thanx so much for stopping by today....hope you are all well and happy!!!!!
Here is the poem for those of you not familiar....
Warning....
When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
with a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me,
and I shall spend my pension
on brandy and summer gloves,
and say we've no money for butter.
I shall set down on the pavement when I am tired,
and gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells,
and run my stick along the public railing,
and make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
and pick the flowers in other peoples gardens,
and learn to spit.
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat,
and eat three pounds of sausages at a go,
or only bread and pickles for a week,
and hoard pens and pencils and beer mats,
and things in boxes.
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry,
and pay our rent and not swear in the street,
and set a good example for the children.
We will have friends to dinner and read the paper.
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me
are not too shocked and surprised,
when suddenly I am old
and start to wear purple.
Jenny Joseph
