boy U make my heart flutter

This is a picture of my 2nd son....so hard to believe he is 18 now! I decided to make this really fun so added a ton of butterflies...they are all cut from Indie Art using the shadow cut. I stickled and pearl painted them to add some personality. The flourish is from Home Accents and is stretched in DS. The papers are some plain card stock and all the patterned papers are from a stack by Me & My Big Ideas.

The font is cut from Winter Woodlands...the marquee mats are Storybook and both the scallop circle and rectangle are from A Child's Year.

I added some doodling to the plain blue heart and some pearl paint to the mat.

I have to thank Nanne for the heart cluster and for the lovely flower....she has an awesome tutorial on our new challenge blog...Stuck On U Sketches....check it out it was fun and easy to make...The flower is from Graphically speaking and I added some dark blue chalk and a little adhesive badge to the center. My leaves are cut from A Child's Year....and chalked in light blue.

The butterflies were cut 4x's in each color in 3 sizes....and then randomly spread throughout the page....I really enjoyed making this layout....so fun to remember when they were young....and my son looks so happy in the photo....thanx so much for stopping by....I love to read your comments...they mean a lot to me!

Up Close and Personal Creative Twist Challenge

Christina challenged us to come up with a project that was "up close and personal", so here is a close up of me and a personal thought to go with it. I loved this challenge because I took it as an opportunity to scrap myself....how much more personal can you get!

After seeing so many beautiful floral branches on layouts I decided to try to make one...I am very pleased with the outcome and how wonderful to be able to match my papers. Watch for a tutorial on Stuck On U Sketches....I will let you now when it is posted. I sewed my circle frame (cut from Lyrical Letters) on my machine, I love the little touch of color the pink thread added. I added pearl paint to the scalloped mat (cut from A Child's Year) and title (Winter Woodlands font)....a fav of mine lately.

Each of the flowers were handmade with cricut cuts...two of them are Plantin hearts and the other is Graphically speaking. I love these big gold buttons, picked up at my local WM in a variety bag for very little money. The mat underneath is cut by welding a Storybook border in DS....it really makes lovely intricate cuts. The corners are also a Storybook cut.

My lace is once again a WM find...in the bridal aisle...I added some adhesive pearls...The Indie Art butterfly has lots of stickles and bling. Sharon Barrett (a dear mb friend) commented that she thought the fence was my signature and I have to admit I love to use it. This one is cut from My Community, I stretched it in DS, it is embossed with my Cuttlebug and look how sweet the little Storybook hinges look on it!

There is a tutorial for the flower on the right already posted on Stuck On U Sketches. The large pink flower is my take on the rose tutorial I found at swirlydoos, I used cardsock. All of my leaves were cut from A Child's Year...chalked and stickled. The background paper is from the DC WV sweetheart stack, all else is just card stock. The mini K&Co frame holds a quote by Thoreau..."Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each others eye's for an instant?" I loved using my cricut and bargain center finds to create this page....I hope you will hop over to Creative Twist to see what the other DT members came up with. Youth

Good evening all, hope this finds you well. This is a picture of my dad and uncle when they were boys. Have been doing some heritage pages lately and having fun with them. The papers are just odds and ends I had about the house....I enjoyed using my Pebbles stencils to add some inking and cut slits in my mat and viola....photo corners that I think fit the essence of this page. You can find the stencils at Your Memories Here....check my right side bar to see what fun Kristina is offering our followers now! I intentionally kept the colors very limited. The flower is once again my GS flower this time 5 layers in 2 1/2 and 2 inches pop dotted then punched and a brad inserted. I used a copy of some newsprint I found online to make the paper for the flowers. I added the mail box and letters to say I miss you Dad....a couple of brads, some tearing, lots of inking and a bit of yellow craft paint. I did some scribbling on the envelopes to add some character...hope you like it!

This Weeks Creative Twist Challenge

I so enjoy being on the DT for Christina @ Creative Twist....She always astounds me with her imagination when it comes the the challenges for the team. This week was a challenge to make a project inspired by our favorite classic movie. I chose It's A Wonderful Life...a Christmas Tradition in my home....I love the sentiment of this film. I made a cupcake Christmas card for this challenge.....I will include a full tutorial for anyone interested, I got the idea from Ingvild's blog...you can find her on my blog list....no tutorial so I made up my own. It's A Wonderful Life Christmas Cupcake Card Tutorial

Select your paper...cut 12x2 inch strip....fan fold glue together....I also used a foil doily to help whip my cupcake into shape.

I used a small butter cup to allow my gule to dry...the foil helps with the form as well.

I applied some glue to the foil before placing the two pieces in the cup. continued....

Now I have my cupcake holder....

Spray the inside of the cupcake holder with some craft glue and begin to build you cupcake with cotton balls.

Make a tag and envelope....I used my Plantin cricut cart with the tag cut at two inches....I am using a green tag for a pattern while I work on the cupcake....the envelope is just typing paper folded around the tag and tape....remember not to make it too snug....you want the tag to slide in and out easily. Apply some glue to the envelope and slide it into the cupcake.

I have used a white paper doily to 'frost' my cupcake....make sure to cut a slit for the tag...I left the green tag in while I worked so I would remember to leave that area open.

Next, I used a small piece of netting to add more dimension to my 'frosting'....again remember the slit for the tag... continued.....

I've used double sided tape to add ribbon....start decorating your cupcake anyway you like

I chose to add some white craft paint to finish off my 'frosting'.

A few beads, buttons and glitter to add some yumminess.......

Add a ribbon and a 'cherry' to your card tag and insert into the cupcake.....

A fun card anyone would enjoy receiving!

Timeless Beauty

Good Saturday everyone....hope this finds you all well and scrappy happy. This picture has been beckoning me to scrap it for a few days so here we are. These lovely ladies are my mother and her twin sisters when they were teenagers....are they glam or what....All but one has passed...my mother @ 61 and my aunt @ 56....I adore this picture of them....so sweet....Papers are some I picked up off clearance and other than the butterflies which are DCWV pocket full of poesy's I am not sure who they are...sorry....the sheet music paper I downloaded and will include a copy to use if you would like. I added some Martha Stewart alpha tags, bling and a clip art clock and some pearls. The flowers are way fun to make and I will be doing a tutorial on them soon...I even made my own stamens....so cool....I also did a bit of lacing, Martha Stewart border punch, inking, chip board BEAUTY burning and embossing....I hope you enjoy looking as much as I enjoy creating...thanx for stopping and please leave a comment...I look so forward to hearing your views on my work!

Time Flies

Good evening all....hope you are all having a wonderful week....This is a picture of Mcauley last year...his school pic for 7th grade....I used my K & Co ancestry.com paper stack...love it! I downloaded a couple of images which I will share here on my blog for anyone who would like to copy and paste them to use. I used my photo impact to add Mcauley's name and grade to the top of the vintage report card. I added some charms,bling, buttons and my current fav...pearl paints. The mini K & Co frame holds a quote....Just when I was getting used to yesterday along came tomorrow. The flower was once again created using my cornflower punch from the tutorial I posted this past weekend. I'm very pleased with the way it came out....the raindrops are due to my impatience in trying to take a picture while it was still daylight....hope you like it!

Naturally Sweet No Sugar Added

Good Monday everyone...this is the latest challenge at Creative Twist....Steph provided a sketch for us and the theme was feelin' fruity....I used a pic of my DS in 2005...it was Mothers Day and my boyssss made me breakfast in bed...Mcauley is holding a beautiful fruit salad they made as part of the meal. I did not have any fruit papers I loved so I decided...why not make my own....I downloaded some images and copied and pasted and played until I came up with what you see. The back ground paper is from Provo Craft....Michelle Andersen's Pathways. I borrowed a flower technique from Lynn at Pretty Paper Swirls...check out her blog....she has a great tutorial on how they are created. The naturally, no and added are all computer generated. I used lots of bling, stickles and a bit of ribbon. I also used my Martha Stewart punch along the edges of the paper and made my own photo corners and punched those as well...the flower center is the cornflower MS punch....I used it for my flower petal effect too....I found the photo corners blog hopping and cannot remember the blog so I plan on doing a tutorial....hopefully that will be done before I post this. I also added lots of craft stain to help the items appear aged.
