My Bliss

Hi all! I don't get to scrap as much as I'd like and the last couple of days I really wanted to squeeze in some personal stuff. I so enjoyed making the tute yesterday and with all those new blooms was inspired to make this layout. Because I called the flowers blissful blooms what better title for this layout than My Bliss...these, of course, are my boyssss. They truly are my bliss, this is one of those machine drawings and I love it. It was in 05 while we were in Dallas.

I get lots of comments about flowers, butterflies and vintage layouts with boys. The way I see it even tho I am making the albums for future generations I am making them for myself right now. My grand kids will giggle and say....."Gramma really loved flowers and butterflies!" A little piece of me I am passing on to them with the photographs. So as much as I try other styles I always end up with pages like this being my fave...so if you have boys or girls....I say scrap em' the way you like! Remember that while we are showcasing the photos and precious memories, we are adding so much of ourselves to each layout......hopefully that is part of what will be treasured.

I used K&Co for the floral paper...the card stock is just from my stash. I purchased some really fun old sheet music and love it so much. I have created a cut file for the lace edge I made for this paper....It is cut with Plantin and Heritage. I added some pearl paint to the tips of the antennae and also created a faux stitch around the page with it. My lace is from the bridal aisle at my local WM.
Of course the tute for the blooms is below this post...I will be doing a tute for the rose very soon. The little pearl flowers are actually earrings from a bag of finds I picked up at a flea market.
The bling is all Memory Makers and I cut bliss from Stone Script from the sheet music.
How fabulous is the wonderful butterfly button???!!!!! I added some cording and brought it up from behind to form the antennae. My sweet friend Michele sent a bag of these handmade buttons. Please see Charlene's RAK on by right bar she makes the most beautiful buttons!!!!.....click on the image and visit her blog, she just opened an etsy and don't forget to leave her a comment so you can be eligible for her amazing RAK! Stop by and see Michele too....you will be so inspired by her talent!
This pin was also in my bag of finds....I just love little treasures!
There is a safety pin holding on to all the precious little charms here....the heart locket is from my bag of finds....I've also added a tiny key and some beads. The top of the safety pin is covered by the Believe brad with a little butterfly brad to boot~
Well everybody that's it for now.....hope you are all having a great day!!! Thanx for stopping by...your encouraging comments me so much to me!
If you would like to download the cut file for the lace edged paper here is the link...

Blissful Blooms Tutorial

Happy Saturday everyone! I thought I would put together a quick tute on the one of the flowers I had on the Friday post for SOUS, Heavenly Delight.
I used my Home Decor cart and cut the 6 petal flower from the shadow shift feature @ 4 inches. The flower is really only about 1 1/2 inches but because this is actually a flower center I had to cut it at a larger size. Any six petal cut will work, you may even have a simple punch. You will need two flowers in the same size to create this bloom.
First, you will cut a slit in one layer, overlap the petals and glue. Next, using a a skewer curl all the petals under.
Then simply glue the two layers together. This will create a six petal bottom with a 5 petal top....Now another version.....
For this version you will slit one layer and then cut one petal from the second layer, overlap each and glue....You can see the cut layers along with the glued layers here.
Once again you will simply glue the two layers together. This will create a bloom with a 5 petal bottom and a 4 petal top.
Now lets add a little fun.....Choose a chalk in a similar color or a contrasting color to add some shading to the center of each layer.
I used some store bought stamen and a floral pic to create my centers.
What ever you decide to use will be glued to the center of the flower.....I like mixing it up bit so I added different types of centers to create some different looks.
Finally, I added some stickles in a variety of patterns to all of my blooms. I found that making several of these at a time really is the best way to create a little stash of flowers....but you know me....I'll probably end up using them all on one layout...LOL!
Hope this little tutorial was inspiring to you....have a great weekend!

Heavenly Delight!

Wow it's Friday again! That means only 8 more Mondays until the end of the school year! It also means another reveal @ SOUS! This week we are working from an Aymee Gandy sketch, we all have some very different takes on this one.
I chose a picture of 4 of my sister's grand babies....I love this photo...snapped it last summer and enhanced it in Photo Impact.
I used K & Co papers, they are great for a vintage feel. I used my MS border punch, some lacing, a wonderful fence cut from my Heritage cart, offray lace ribbon and some fantastic handmade flowers~

This pic shows the gate opened. Don't' they really look heavenly and delightful! What precious babes! I used lots of distressing and inking on the edges of my papers.
A close up of the photo....you can see I did a zig zag stitch around the pic.
My lacing is done by punching a series of holes in the two aligned papers...I held them together to punch for even spacing. I used simple satin ribbon and laced not quite to the top rolling back the sides left open...you can see my little Sentimentals keys poked in here and there.
The large flower is a combo of the Tim Holtz rose with a little personal twist to make it a larger bloom. I added both distressed stickles in brick and frosted lace stickles. The off white torn flowers are from a tute I found HERE....Gabi's work is wonderful. I used a 5 petal flower cut to make the smaller blooms....one in blue and one in soft yellow...added some chalk, stickles and some store bought stamens.
Another torn flower, a Tim Holtz rose and some more of the 5 petal layered blooms. I think I will do a quick tute on these soon....they are very simple and quick to make.
More bloomin close-ups!
Lots of pearl floral sprays and little vines cut from Paper Doll Dress Up.
I used a metal garden stake to hold Matthew 19:14. I love the idea that God wants us to be more like children in our faith, honesty, trust and joy.
The gate holds the title Heavenly Delight cut from Stone Script and welded in DS. I added some blue adhesive pearls to the little hinges cut from Storybook and a little lock from Sentimentals.
I love how the little ones are peeking out from the gate and the interactive part of the layout with the gate opening....so much fun....obviously this will be framed...maybe for a mothers day gift for my sis!
Well, I hope you like it...stop by and see what Nanne and Leah came up with....our sweet Sandi is still taking some time off but we are so happy she is home safe and sound and look forward to her joining in with us next week, we miss her soooooooooo much! Maybe you will have time to play along with us this week, we would love to see you strut your stuff!

Arr Star

What do you get when you start with some fantastic Graphic 45 papers and add some Dollar Tree finds and some circut cuts? Well when you pair them with these fun photos of Mcauley in his recent school play it all adds up to a fun layout matey!!!
Hey everyone...time for another Friday reveal @ SOUS....This week we had a really fun sketch to work with. I knew I wanted to start scrapping Mcauley's school play so this was a great beginning. I used some papers from On The Boardwalk by G45 I close up of arr star and a couple of family shots.
When I was looking for some fun scrappy bargains @ the local Dollar Tree I ran across a bag of little wooden pirate cutouts and thought of Mcauley. He was a pirate in the school play, Night at the Wax Museum. I added the title with Stone Script. The fun scroll is my little treasure map...Mcauley gives us lots of entertaining moments...no better treasure than that. I used my Heritage cart for the cut and added the x from Indie Art to mark the spot.

The stars are from Plantin. If you have never used you center point on your cricut it is so much fun. I printed the info on from my computer and then cut them out with the center point feature....love the look and it's a great way for handwriting challenged people like myself to add some journaling to a layout. The film strips are cut from Mickey and Friends...these are so much fun and have so many uses. I covered the back of the paper with a book page, cut a slit and added some eyelets and lace to mimic his piratey shirt.
The little chipboard frames were covered in red card stock....the frames were a Big Lots find.
So stop by Generations Crafting and pick up a pad of this versatile paper....I really have to order some more of these pages...I love the black and red and the prints are the bomb. Pop on over to SOUS to check out the rest of the DT's work and our fantastic guest designer, Jennifer! Thanx for stopping by!

So Proud You Are Mine

Hey everyone...wanted to share my layout for Generations Crafting DT. These are the new Websters Pages....Garden Gala....aren't they just gorgeous....so little to do with such lovely papers....I wanted to scrap this fab pic of Mcauley @ 12....I think he is just he greatest!
I used the Welcome Gate paper for the background and then stitched the die cut from the series to the page.
These birds are cut from 50 states...I have chalked them and added some stickles as well. The branches are from Home Decor and the leaves from Heritage. I added some little Queen & Co pearls as well as a little dragonfly button.

The photo corners and tag are from Heritage....love that cart! I used a Cosmo Cricket rub on for this part of the title....love the look. How about that fab brown ribbon lace by Prima, it is from the Urban Cosmos collection and works beautifully with these pages. I also used my MS punch to create the paper lace

The title font is Blackletter, it has a fab look!
Okay...that's it for now....check out Generations Crafting for Prima, Ranger, Queen and Co and these extraordinary papers along with all the other goodies available....I am so proud to be a part of the fantastic DT!

On The Boardwalk With Generations Crafting!!!

When I received this fantastic paper pack by Graphic 45 from Generations Crafting I just could not stop looking at all the fun double sided papers!!! They are so nostalgic.....from newsprint page, vintage photo designs and fantastic colors and patterns there is something in this stack for everyone to love....my delightful challenge....what to create with it....so this is what I came up with.....

I used an inexpensive child's board book to create my mini Boardwalk full of pages to capture fun memories....I could easily fill this mini with beach pix, vintage photos. or just fun family snapshots...still not sure which I will choose.

I covered the book with a fun filled paper with cheerful photos and colors. The title is just one of the fun borders that is a part of this pack. I used some of the vintage photo tags to embellish the top of a larger interior tag and added some Prima flowers and a fun shell to the cover.

Aren't these photo tags just the bomb!!!! Love them! I also added some circles cut from of the scraps I had left from making the album...such fun patterns!

I used sandpaper to created my pocket on this page....gotta love that bathing beauty tag not to mention the other ladies hanging out on the beach...I used another of the border pieces along the side of the page to add a title. the the top of the page you can see the back of an old clip on earring...I will use it to hold a photo.

These pages have lots of room for photos or journaling....I have to share the link I used for this fabulous envelope page...check out this super fun tutorial by Laura from Following The Paper Trail
The shell was cut with my Ocean of Words cart and opens...you will see that soon.....

Check out this fantastically fun paper....I could not bring myself to add more that some eyelash yarn.......lots of room for photos here....I may not add much at all...could not bear to cover up those 3 handsome gents in the corner!

Here I have added an envelope with a brad and floss closure...the envelope is cut from Plantin...there are more photo mats hiding inside. The frames are covered with more paper from the stack...and those fun tickets....don't for get to click to enlarge the photos...they are actually a border on one of the papers...I love the look of them!!!!

The last 2 pages are covered in fantastic designs....I used my Mickey and Friends cart to cut eh film frames, added some more of the tags from the stack and a bright Prima with a starfish bling as a center.

Here is a view of the envelope open with the additional photo mats....oh and did I say WOW....I just adore this beautiful orange lace ribbon by Prima!

I sniped a scrap from one of the post card pages.....I placed it inside of a clear adhesive tab.

A pic of the shell opened up...don't know if you can see it in the pic but the two inside pages have been embossed with my Cuttlebug. The tags from the envelope page have some fiber and I added a shell to the smaller of the two...the post card is cut from one of the papers...it is accented with a paperclip with some buttons glued to the top.

One last shot of the the fun, fun tags from the 1st page.

All of the papers except for the plain white and black card stack are from the On The Boardwalk paper stack...it is filled with fun xtras....the tags and borders...pop over and pay Floren a visit....along with Graphic 45 and Prima she has so much scrappy goodness @ her online store Generations Crafting!

Hope you enjoyed the mini....cya soon~
